Glad to hear you saw Jack Snipe. I too am keen to see Jack Snipe. It is one of my nemesis birds. I only go to Conder Green occasionally, so I have been frustrated trying to figure out the location you refer to. Please therefore may I enquire with you; are you referring to the car park near the hide or near the stork pub? I cannot see Ashton Hall Lane mentioned on Google Maps. Thank you for your help. Ian

I have wanted to get a record shot of a pied flycatcher this season and so it was helpful members of this forum that put me onto good places. I dipped at Strid Wood, Bolton Abbey a couple of weeks ago, so thought I would try Barbondale.
It is nice to report seeing a pair and obtaining my photo (several in fact although the quality wasn’t great.
        Other birds seen were

        long tailed tit
        willow warbler
        blackcap
        wren
        robin
        blackbird

I would like to respectfully suggest (not with the aim of being contentious) that a “monthly flush” at this site will in my opinion result eventually in these birds deserting. This has happened in other places due to over-zealous but well-meaning ornithologists tracking Jacksnipe. The disturbance may well be excessive. Would one or maybe two ‘flushes’ at the most not be sufficient?
