Friday provided a passage of many swallows in groups of four or five. Not counted. This morning while we were overcast with light drizzle we had a much increased passage with between about 10am and 1pm perhaps 300 to 400 birds all northbound. When the sun came out the passage ceased, presumably they were higher up or on a different course. Our local breeding birds have not arrived yet. They are late. Others notable … a little egret passing over towards the Lune and three gs woodpeckers having a vocal argument in one of the parkland trees next door where there is a traditional nest.
