71 Curlews, 3 Ravens and 8 Linnets in maize stubble field at SD428790, near the Winster and Meathop Road. Improved fields in this area exceedingly poor for birds.

Quite quiet at Meathop Moss but a Crossbill, 3 singing Chiffchaffs and singing Blackcap and Treecreeper. Good views of the usual raptors.

Had a brief walk round the boardwalks at Foulshaw Moss and counted the following:

Lesser Redpoll 38
Reed Bunting 16
Tree Sparrow 15
Willow Warbler 4 in song
Siskin 4
Osprey 2
Greylag 2

(good densities of singing Marsh Tits and Blackcaps round Witherslack / Hale Cat– but no Hawfinches seen/heard!)

47 Whooper Swans (mostly ads) on sandbank SD450790 just downstream of Kent Viaduct

LDBWS feeding station at Fairfield:

Linnet 45 including some on Alan’s tables for the first time. A few more days of feeding here.

Chaffinch 8
Stock Dove 3

80 Black-headed Gulls following the plough.
