I was asked to survey a private wood just outside Aughton yesterday, SD538677. The wood itself was very disappointing for bird life for a variety of reasons. The owners is taking steps to improve it over the coming years.
On a positive note, in the adjacent sheep field there were 4 male and 1 female Wheatears present. None of them showing any Greenland characteristics.
