      15/1/25
      Challan Hall Allotment 15 Hawfinches flew west over the road in the direction of Eaves Wood about 10am

      At dusk, 1 woodcock flew across the road near the horse paddocks at SD488712

      Leighton Moss – at Grisedale hide 1 water pipit followed me in the digger for a while around lunchtime feeding on the spoil. Proper skydancing from the marsh harriers at Grisedale and 3+ bearded tit in the general area. Lots of pathside water rail sightings in the flooded woodland.

          Amazing sight of a single flock of 27 or 28 hawfinches flew over the road at Challan Hall Allotment heading east into Gait Barrows 9.15am

            Water pipit again at Grisedale hide, also stonechat. Bittern tuning up audible from here too and at least 3 doing so across the whole site already

              2 water pipit mid afternoon. One on the spoil following digger all afternoon, very close at times. In the next few weeks the machine will move to the other side of the pool which should give closer viewing opportunities as these are currently quite hard to see from the hide
