A couple of very late reports sorry…. green woodpecker flew across the road between Quernmore crossroads and the church last week. The swallows at Torrisholme were all still in place until the end of September with the second brood still begging for food on the telephone wire. Not seen them since. Departure seemed to coincide with the maize harvest.

Yesterday 12th October 5.20pm, 14 whooper swans about 500 feet up in formation flew over Freehold heading NNE towards Halton. Worth checking Melling if anyone is that way?
