Pleased to find eggshells on the seat of my mower in the machine shed at Torrisholme CC on Wednesday. The swallows have hatched.

With a change in their mowing regime over the past year or two, United Utilities underground reservoir on Newlands Road Lancaster now has a recovering population of northern marsh orchids. There is no public access but the spikes can be observed from the gateway. It used to be a crushing disappointment to watch a tractor mow them all just before blooming. Now after some negotiations they are allowed to flower, seed and wither before mowing.
