Feb10 – Bay near Red Bank House, shore Lane, Carnforth (54.101057,-2.811406)

Turnstones x9. One was protecting a 1/2. cockle, holding in beak & running away into water to wash shell and eat remnants. Been 7 years since last seen any (Tankerton, Kent winter).

We were shocked at how tame turnstones were around the south coast when visiting Hastings / Eastbourne Feb 23.

Turnstones here in Morecambe always very tentative and hiding amongst other waders.

That was until a tame one turned up in Bare about a month ago. Seems to hang out with the starlings and walk the terrace street pavements
