An afternoon walk around Sunderland Point produced ‘lots’ of white butterflies, plus 1 Painted Lady and 45 Small Tortoiseshell along the western shoreline between ‘The Lane’ and the Point. Also: 10+ Tree Sparrow in a large mixed sparrow / Linnet / Goldfinch flock in fields on the west side of the peninsular, plus 1 Whimbrel and a colour-ringed adult Black-headed Gull (White darvic right leg – but no ‘scope!) on the shoreline between the two terraces.
