      Red Nab – Heysham Harbour (8.10 – 9.30 am)
      1 2nd CY Mediterranean Gull roosting with 52 Black-headed Gull (including 1 juvenile) on Red Nab at high tide.
      Also 2 female Eider and 112 Curlew on Red Nab
      12 Cormorant roosting on the Wooden Pier
      2 Rock Pipit (including ringed bird) around Harbour mouth
      2 Grey Seal off the outfalls

      Morecambe West End – c.800 Herring Gull (mainly 2nd CY and 3rd CY) roosting on the beach at 9.40 am

      Eric Morecambe Pools (from Crag Road viewpoint – 10.10 – 11.10 am)
      2 Spoonbill on Eric Morecambe Pool
      55 adult Avocet on salt-marsh pools (my highest count this year)
      1 adult Sandwich Tern on Allen Pool
      1 Black Swan on Flood
      Early signs of post-breeding wader increases: 11 Black-tailed Godwit, 46 Redshank and 63 Lapwing on salt-marsh pools
      5 Little Grebe on Barrow Scout Fields

      Warton Crag (lower slope east of quarry – 11.20 – 12.30 pm)
      13 species of butterfly, including 5 Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary, 4 Dark Green Fritillary, 7 Grayling, 6 Northern Brown Argus, 1 Ringlet and 1 Dingy Skipper
      Also: 2 Large Skipper, 4 Small Heath, 15 Small Tortoiseshell, 4 Common Blue, 1 Green-veined White, 10 Meadow Brown and 2 Speckled Wood.
