Seems like an excellent time to survey your local song thrush population whilst we’re locked down. We have one giving it full bore for hours and hours every day at the bottom of the garden in a pollarded ash tree. Time of day seems unimportant but it sings especially when the sky is overcast, crepuscular light, and against two others in competition about 100 yards away in either direction. The singing is seriously loud. I know this has been discussed for the whole of last year in the media, but the lack of traffic seems to have turbocharged their volume and tenacity, presumably because they can hear so much competition.
