A lunch-time walk from my house to shore down Pasture Lane. For first time in over 25 years having never heard, let alone seen Water Rail here, saw one at close quarters in boggy area on Pasture Lane by side of road about 200 yards from main line railway bridge.

In fields opposite Morecambe Lodge Caravan site were 50+ Lapwing, 3 Common Gull, several Black-headed Gulls, 2 Mistle Thrush and one Redwing.

      Allan.

        Hi Allan,

I had a water rail in the same area in about 1985. I don’t have a written record, but like you, the unusual nature of the venue of the record has meant that it is stuck in my memory.
