Started my birding day at Morecambe today, where on a rough sea a male Common Scoter bobbed up and down in the sunshine off Broadway.

I then met up with Clay who was finishing his canal WebS count at Hest Bank.

We had a somewhat circuitous trip up to Halforth to see if there was anything on the still flooded field (no, is the answer, unless you count a load of Sand Martins).

We went on to Foulshaw, where the always great feeders finally have some Redpolls (think there were at least 2), plus slSiskins aplenty, the usual Tree Sparrows and a Great Spotted Woodpecker.

We took the role of volunteers at the Osprey watchpoint, because there was nobody else there today, and showed some punters one of the ospreys sitting on the nest (think it was the female).
