Had my first willow warbler of the year along the path to Grisedale today.
A few blackcaps were singing here and there (inc 2 around the garden) and an osprey passed over mid afternoon. c1000 sand martins were feeding on and over the reserve – mostly high up.
Harriers are busy nest building and bitterns can be heard booming throughout the day. Cetti’s warblers are being very vocal and showing well occasionally.
Green woodpecker yaffling and feeding in the field by the garden for much of the morning.
