A necessary visit to Heysham was embroidered by a check of the low tide channel from Knowlys and half moon Bay (30 pale bellied Brent and about 60 Eider), then a Christmas k on the incoming Ben my Chree from the back of the harbour. Scanning around saw a juvenile white winged Gull on the sandbank adjoining the Kent channel. Obviously a Juv Iceland on size and structure (nearby H & Gbbg). After a couple of minutes it flew across the Kent channel and landed on the opposite bank in line with Rampside lighthouse. I then whatsapped it out and immediately ended up talking to the harbour police and I couldn’t find it afterwards. Nothing of note behind Ferry. Then the Ad Med was again along the A589 hovering around a food source on the west side before flying seaward. I returned home vis Pine Lake and the Ring necked Duck and 60 Whoopers from Gressingham bridge. Garden birding tomorrow!
