Birds than often go under the radar or are hidden in plain sight. They’ve been fledging from every unused chimney pot in Freehold in the last few days. Noise everywhere. Parents very confiding yet protective of their hapless fledglings. Tonight we had a magnificent display of well over 100 paired adults and their flappy rather pathetic offspring trying to keep up with the ‘family’ yet flying as a whole group. A proper introductory tour of their ‘Mansion’ the old rogues.

we had 56 jackdaws over the Tarnbrook Wyre path from Stoops Bridge this morning. First group of 17 flying steadily north-east high up, followed minutes later by 39 more, although about 19 of this bunch broke away and turned back toward Abbeysteads village.
