Highlights from the LDBWS winter survey visit:
As I arrived at the flock of swans at Clarkson’s Farm Paul Ellis and Paul Slade pulled in behind me so I left grilling the flock to them. They had no fewer than 8 Bewick’s including two juveniles. The two Black Swans were also in the herd.
Other Whooper flocks – 72 at Sand Villa including yellow ZBJ, 14 on the outskirts of Cockerham.
A large flock of Linnet at Glasson near the smokehouse was around c250 strong.
A flock of c1000 Pinkfeet came over Ellel Grange at low height that had obviously been feeding just east of the A6 and M6 somewhere before being disturbed.
