LDBWS Feeding Station 1000 5 Celsius

Chaffinch 38 (numbers down after the cold snap)
      Stock Dove 11
Reed Bunting 6 (so slowly on the up!)
Blackbird 5 (anyone else think this is a good winter for blackbirds locally?)

      Kestrel 1 Pony Wood
      Mistle Thrush 1 Pony Wood

Thanks to AKM & Bill for keeping the station stocked in recent days and of course Ian, Sue, Mike, Catherine, Clio, Steve & Alasdair for maintaining it outside of holiday times. Thanks also to LDBWS, Sue & Sue, AKM and RSPB Leighton Moss (cheers Jon & Robin) for donating seed to this project.

After stocking the station I had a brief look round Aldcliffe ahead of Sunday’s LDBWS walk* and saw a reasonable selection of species including four species of goose and two of falcon.

We have had four or five blackbirds interested in the berries on our Rowan tree, Westbourne road. There seems to be one in charge, controlling the store, perhaps seeing that it lasts the winter 🙂
