Our 2 previous visits to the National Landscape (AONB) this year have both involved 3 mile walks. This day is planned around accessible sites with opportunity to visit 2 or 3 from a menu which spans the area. Our base will be Leighton Moss which provides accessible hide opportunities on both the main reserve and overlooking the salt marsh. Additional possible locations include Fell End, the Keer estuary, the Bela/Kent confluence near Milnthorpe, and the shore at Arnside or Silverdale. High tide is 11.40 at Silverdale, and an hour later at Arnside. Locations will be determined on the day, depending on weather, the interests of those attending, and the latest information on any particular species of interest present in the area. At least one refreshment stop will be built in at Leighton Moss. Additional toilet facilities are available in Arnside and Silverdale. Meet Leighton Moss car park at 9.15 (current timetable has Lancaster train arriving at 9.06). Finishing time to be determined on the day with opportunities to leave the group at any stage.
Please book by e-mailing [email protected] – members free, non members £10. Meet at Leighton Moss car park at 9.15. Entry fee payable by non members.
