LDBWS Field Meeting: A Warm Evening at Birk Bank, nr Quernmore.
May 30, 6.30PM – 9.30PM
Hello All—as it looks like it will be warming up at the weekend you are cordially invited to a LDBWS guided evening bird stroll along the foot of Birk Bank on the edge of Bowland this Sunday.
We hope to see and hear Meadow Pipits, Red Grouse and Stonechats in the heather and encounter Cuckoos, Willow Warblers and Tree Pipits in the woodland fringes.
Those wishing to stay until sunset may come across bats, Tawny Owls and Woodcock.
Dan Haywood will show the basics of mapping breeding species (BTO-style) for anyone interested. Andrew will be bringing his bat detector.
Have an early dinner or bring sandwiches (and insect repellent!) for an informal, easy walk in a beautiful spot. This is free to LDBWS members. If you’re aren’t yet part of the club–please join now– it’s great value at £16 per year, £20 joint membership or £7 per year for juniors.
Aim to meet at Rigg Lane car park (SD526604) at 6.30PM or make arrangements to catch us up. If you’re interested please e-mail [email protected] as soon as possible with ‘Birk Bank Sunday’ in the subject
