21st march, 340 pinkfeet visible from embankment between Heald Brow and RSPB car park. 4 avocets and pair of pintail on Allen Pool. Chiffchaffs singing slope of Heald Brow and Jack Scout. 3 rbm low tide at JBP.
Recent weeks parts of Silverdale skjaer have started to re-emerge from the sand while parts of the outer end of JBP breakwater have disappeared. A significant channel has developed close inshore so that incoming tide hits shore part of breakwater first. February it was shore end of main section of breakwater, less than 12 months ago it was furthest rocks of breakwater.Afternoon visit. Coltsfoot in car park, brimstone in Storrs Lane, frog chorus on the causeway. Bitterns and cetti’s calling, harriers sparring.
From screen beside hide: 2 otters, 55 tufted duck, 27 goldeneye, 6 pochard. A further 18 tufted duck and 2 goldeneye visible on Lilians Pool from Storrs Lane.in reply to: LDBWS Feeding Station and Garden Records Request #2107BTO GBW info for our Silverdale garden.
2020 we recorded 51 weeks.
Greenfinch were recorded in 50 weeks, numbers from 1 – 10.
Tree sparrows were recorded in 42 weeks, numbers from 1 – 6.
2021 has started with the same numbers of each species in each of the first 3 weeks, namely 3 greenfinch, and 4 tree sparrow.in reply to: Arnside Tower Rising #1728Is it a perennial problem for WeBS when the waders use these inland sites? There were 50 oystercatchers in the field above Know End just after high tide this morning. Did not count the number remaining on the shore, along with redshank, curlew, and 9 dunlin. Also 28 eider.
Yesterday morning a couple of curlew flocks (10 – 12 in each) passing over Leighton Moss, where also saw 2 marsh harriers, m & f goldeneye, and 8 bearded tits gritting on the causeway track. -
