      We are frozen to about 75mm down or more and all the usual high tide waders have disappeared. I suspect you’ll find them with lapwings, gulls and co. in Bowland where a lot of muckspreading is going on with the hard ground.

      Because of the hard conditions I put up a feeder with sunflower seed 3 days ago. Was amazed to come back the next day to see not one but three nuthatch stashing seed from it regularly. Had to refill every 24 hours. I have heard nuthatch in the Crem before but never recorded one on our site. The usual other suspects using the feeder too….great tit, blue tit, robin underneath, carrion crow and magpie. Squirrel trying to access it as well but failing so far. Other surprise visitor this week was an unringed grey wagtail.
