We have just heard that Tom Wilmer has died. He was a keen birder and orchid hunter. A brief check of the county avifauna will see Tom’s name mentioned regularly with county firsts such as common rosefinch and a finder of two melodious warblers. He has not been very well for a few years now but still managed to get out birding and orchid hunting. His passing is a sad loss to the local birding scene.
