      2nd June
      1.30-2.15
      Fairfield area and canal
      Sunny and breezy

2 swifts, 5 swallows and 9 house martins feeding over the field which hosts the LDBWS table, next to Pony Wood, and over the Hill parallel to the canal. 2 swallows seen flying in and out of the small canalside boathouse next to bridge 95, presumably there’s nesting there.

        Ryelands Park
        12 June 1pm
        Warm and very breezy

(minimum of) 9 swifts counted feeding over the grass, both meadow areas and playing fields, high, low and in between. There were no doubt more than 9 but they were difficult to count! They were feeding excitedly for at least half an hour then some of them went elsewhere with four remaining over the playing field.

Also with the swifts, enjoying insects, 1 house martin, c dozen starlings, several gulls.
