Morecambe to Hest Bank – No sign of the recent Purple Sandpiper (or many Turnstones) on the limestone groynes between the Stone Jetty car park and Teal Bay on this morning’s rising tide – probably roosting out of sight on the seaward side of one or other of the groynes.
Note for New Year’s Day listers: Teal Bay groyne offers the best variety of waders including Bar-tailed Godwit, while Strathmore and Park Street groynes are better for Ringed Plover.

At least 4 Common Scoter distantly off Teal Bay
Pine Lake – Juvenile Great Northern Diver still at NE corner
Also: 1 adult Whooper Swan still with the Mute Swans at the south end of the lake
36 Tufted Duck
11 Goldeneye (10 females, 1 male)
2 Great Crested Grebe
Lilian’s Hide, Leighton Moss – No sign of yesterday’s female Garganey, but many of the duck were asleep.
(Full set of dabbling duck available for NYD listers.)
