      23rd December – barn owl seen at dawn on the Lunecliffe stretch of the canal and a kingfisher on this stretch on the 26th.

      24th December – 10 tufted ducks on the Glasson arm stretch of the canal upstream from Thurnham Mill. 2 kingfishers with overlapping territories at Thurnham Mill.
