A late night walk home turned into an impromptu nocmig/owl chasing session near Scotch Quarry (Moorlands, Lancaster) last night.
A couple of avocet flying over at ~23:30 and c5 Sandwich Terns at ~00:30 were the surprise highlights. Also one oystercatcher, which is common here.
Also at least two owls heard singing and calling to each other around midnight – one in the Quarry and one nearby.
