      An Arnside and District Natural History Society Field Trip to Fluke Hall and Lane Ends.
      Estimated 2,000 pinkfeet out on sands flying inland as the tide came in. Good numbers of dunlin, golden plover, knot, lapwing, and oystercatcher. Also redshank, curlew, and snipe. 6 whooper swans, 2 goosander, 2 r-b merganser, wigeon, teal, pintail, shoveler, great crested grebe. Juv marsh harrier, merlin, peregrine, sparrowhawk. Flocks of stock dove, and linnet. Regular skylarks.

      Subsequent drive out of area to Eagland Hill for fieldfare, tree sparrows, yellowhammer, and corn buntings. Number of corn bunting sightings with maximum count of 76 on wires with a group in hedge below. Buzzard and kestrel added to the day’s raptors.
