Following BBRCs recent decision to upgrade Ross’s Goose to Cat A of the British List (based on a 1971 record from Plex Moss, Lancs) it has reassessed all other historic Ross’s Goose records.
The outcome is an additional 18 records have been added to the UK list, including the 2008 individual from the Lune at Aldcliffe & Colloway marshes (7 March – 5 April).
As a consequence, this technically adds a new species to the LDBWS list!
And anyone who went to see the then-presumed ‘escape’ can now add it their UK lists (if indeed such things float one’s boat).
There was, I seem to recall, lots of chatter on the forum at the time about whether it was ‘tickable’…
