      Leading canal frequenter Stephen Thackeray has informed me that Mr. Atkins (the lonely Cetti’s Warbler which has been holding territory on the Haverbreaks to Ashton Rd bridge stretch for 12 months) finally has some company (or a rival) with a second bird singing nearby (c SD469593) this evening.

      I witnessed a pair indulging in intimate behaviour by the Glasson arm of the canal nearish Hebbs Alpacas on 29/4/21. I won’t say exactly where because it’s a Schedule 1 species.
