LDBWS Feeding Station at Fairfield viewed from what3words hourglass.pylons.shuttle

      0915, 2 degrees below zero.

Chaffinch 35 (increasing daily in this cold snap).
      Stock Dove 5
      Blackbird 4
      Greenfinch 2 (a micro-site rarity!)
Reed Bunting 2 (poor numbers so far this season but they usually rise late winter)

Stonechat 2 (m&f) in the wildflower strip nearby

      Nuthatch 1 in Pony Wood

We feed the birds here daily– but a few of us are away over xmas– anybody staying local able to cover a morning or two? We’d provide the food. Thanks to various LDBWS members and RSPB Leighton Moss for donating seed mixes.

I can add a whopping 5 reed buntings from this afternoon…

Similar counts there at 1030 today(when 3 degrees below zero) but

              Stock Dove 9

                1000, 1 degrees Celsius

                Selected sightings:

Chaffinch increased to 52 (preponderance of males in contrast to recent visits)
                Linnet 15

                Lapwing 8 Flora Field (A20)

Fairfield paths are more slippery than the Cresta Run today so I wouldn’t advise visiting the feeding station area without crampons / PPE.
