      A few notable sightings on the Canal today:

      10:40 – SD 474 636
      Family of otters – 1 adult 2 pups – swimming purposefully towards Beaumont/the Aqueduct. Stopped long enough for me to catch them on the bank (see below).

      11:00 – Somewhere in SD46
      1 Coot. Not particularly exciting but the first time I’ve had this species on my WeBS route.

      16:00 – SD 470 600
      Water Rail feeding on opposite bank from towpath.

      16:55 – SD 469 605
      20-25 Greenfinch accumulated in the tree at the edge of Fairfield nature reserve, ready to roost. Flushed by a car and scattered in small groups to various trees/bamboo bushes on the canal.
