On 6th February a sick pink-footed goose was afloat below the salt marsh. Presumably it was the body of this bird that was washed up on the same area of salt marsh today. A second fresh pink-foot corpse was floating in the sea near the breakwater at 11.20.
WeBS count included 110 pink-feet on sandbank, 72 eider drifting in on tide, and 2 kittiwakes close to shore.
Also 17 greylag, 8 canada geese, 4 shelduck, 6 mallard, 30 wigeon, and 1 goosander.
Only 1 redshank in the sector, plus 162 oystercatchers, 4 lapwing (apparently 2 pairs on salt marsh), 12 dunlin, 86 curlew.

      Other notes.
First frog spawn in Silverdale garden on 19th February.
White-fronted goose with greylags in field below Heald Brow on 19th February.
