      The mini colony at Allandale Gardens SD467618 (LA1 5JN off Willow Lane), Lancaster– has 11 active nests this year.

      Has anyone else got them nesting nearby this summer?

        Just 2 pairs (very late arriving) at Chancellor’s Wharf, Lancaster – usually several pairs here.
        Just c5 or 6 pairs on the Quay (nr Maritime Museum) by the look of it.

          A whopping 19 active nests in the mini House Martin colony at Allandale Gardens SD467618 (LA1 5JN off Willow Lane) this year.

            17 nests counted on 17th July – on the same date last year I counted 12 on my patch off New Quay Road. However, some houses haven’t had a nest this year, but have in the past, including mine.

            Interestingly, for the second time on my surveys I’ve seen a Swift inspecting either a full HM nest or the remains of one.
