Two Great White Egrets, one on the small pool opposite the social club with a Little Egret, the second on the pool at the head of the stream further along Station Road near the filter beds
38 Teal on the flooded marsh at the junction of the B6384 and Pye’s Bridge Lane
Sparrowhawk (m) hedge-hopping at other end of Pye’s Bridge Lane near A6 (school-run sightings)

18 Moorhen gathered on one small patch of grass (main pond frozen)
Mallard numbers exceptionally high. At least 90 on grassy areas and more hidden in trees and vegetation. No shoot here so far this winter. Pheasant numbers on Dallam Tower estate also much higher than usual for the time of year after reduced shooting. Also several Red-Legged Partridge around despite no recent releases
