A total of 13 Mediterranean Gull – 11 adults, 1 1st summer, 1 juvenile – bathing and roosting on the low tide River Lune between the Golden Ball Hotel and Marsh Point, Aldcliffe during mid afternoon. A record count for me at this site I think.
In days of yore (late 1990s – early 2000s) I would have expected to see a few Yellow-legged Gulls here at this time of year, but since the demise of Lancaster Tip as a landfill site in late 2005 (?) this species has become very thin on the ground in the LDBWS area.
