From gate at Silverdale Moss
Chiffchaff and my first Willow Warbler of the year.
Also 3 Buzzard, Raven, Little Egret, and a fairly obliging
Interestingly last two visits sound very similar to booming bittern from far edge of reeds. Any other reports of similar?
A cycle round my part of district showed big fall of chiffchaff.
At home
Blackcap(s) singing well and subsong when dull. Since end of January.
A pair of Starlings that moved into neighbours roof a year ago, bred, and used same as winter roost are still around. The roof was due to be replaced but lockdown etc stopped that. Amazing to hear male song all winter. I have recorded and noted his repertoire.
Jackdaw, house sparrow, greylag, curlew, buzzard, pheasant, blackbird, thrush(alarm),magpie, mallard, and the most amazing wigeon. The latter suggesting that he may well have joined the winter roosting flocks at Silverdale or Leighton moss.
