Eric Morecambe Pools and Barrow Scout from Crag Road viewpoint:
2 sub-adult Spoonbill – on brackish pool on salt-marsh west of Eric Morecambe Pool
4 Great White Egret – also on salt-marsh pools beyond Eric Morecambe Pool
74 Avocet – 69 adults mostly on Allen Pool, 5 small young (2 on Eric Morecambe Pool North, 3 on Allen Pool)
2 Eider (male, female) – Eric Morecambe Pool South
      4 Pink-footed Geese – 3 on salt-marsh, 1 on Barrow Scout Fields
1 male Ruff with 64 Black-tailed Godwit – Barrow Scout Fields
4 Marsh Harrier (3 females, 1 male) – Barrow Scout Fields

      Warton Crag (east of quarry)
      7 Dingy Skipper
      2 Speckled Wood
      1 Red Admiral
Disappointingly no blues, white or fritillaries – presumably as the vegetation was too parched, with few nectar-bearing flowers

At least 10 Marsh Fritillary at a site not far outside the LDBWS area. I believe the site is known about by the Cumbrian Butterfly Recorder, but as I haven’t seen it specifically identified on any public forums I don’t want to upset anyone by disclosing the location.
