Eric Morecambe & Allen Pools:
Greylag – 15-20 scattered around the marsh
Pink-footed Goose – 54 in one flock on the marsh
Gadwall – 2
Mallard – 10-20
Pintail – 3
Shoveler – c25
Teal – c40
Wigeon – Very rough estimate of c500
Pochard – 5 (3 drake)
Mute Swan – 2
Shelduck – c40
Avocet – 22
Black-tailed Godwit – 2 landed on Allen
Redshank – c100 roosting on the bund between EM & Allen pool
Spotted Redshank – 1, in the above-mentioned roost
Black-headed Gull – Approx 180 spread across the two pools getting ready to nest
Great White Egret – At least 1, possibly 2 on middle flood
Merlin – 1 distantly on saltmarsh
Skylarks – Several seen/heard in display over the marsh
Footpath/track to the road:
Cetti’s Warbler – At least 3 heard including two next to the railway bridge
Chiffchaff – 1 singing by car park
Little Grebe – 2 heard from Barrow Scout while I was walking back up the track to the road
Bittern – One booming from Barrow Scout
