While the weather’s suitable for such evening vigils, anyone local might wish to venture onto the Causeway… here are my highlights from yesterday (Tues) eve:
3 booming bitterns (of minimum of 4 booming on the main reserve)
1 bittern flying over, but not gull-calling
6 great white egrets going into roost
Minimum 5 marsh harriers
Lots of vocal water rails (plus one seen), 2 Cetti’s warblers and bearded tits heard.
Sand martin (first of the year).
