Broadway groyne, Morecambe
1 Purple Sandpiper – roosting with 137 Turnstone at high tide
1 female Scaup – relatively close inshore
4 female Common Scoter – a distant group of 3 and 1 on its own closer inshore
Teal Bay
14 female Common Scoter – loafing on flat, grey sea with 240 Eider, distantly off Hest Bank. I cannot recall this number of Common Scoter off the Morecambe – Teal Bay area in late November during the previous 30 years.
1 female Scaup – flew into land close inshore behind Teal Bay groyne. Presumably the bird seen earlier off Broadway.
Also: 12 Great Crested Grebe offshore between Broadway and Teal Bay.
c.200 Pink-footed Geese north in 4 skeins
