      Today, Wednesday 12th April 6-6.30pm

      Freeman pond:
Top of oak by gates to pond (not in pond) a male blackcap. Didn’t spot female.
In pond: pair tufted duck, pair Canada geese, a coot, many black headed gulls. No sign of pair of med gulls previously sighted here…perhaps now at Leighton?

Also near Freeman’s pond: pretty sure we saw another Willow warbler. Orange legs eye stripe etc. Not chaffinch. Also: 3 goldfinches, 2 blue tits, 1 great tit, 2m blackbirds.

Frog pond: counted 24 mute swans today. Most counted so far. Including several juveniles. Also there: 2 oystercatchers, 6 Canada geese, 4 greylag geese, a dozen or so wigeon, 1 male mallard.

On way home, start of Freeman’s wood path, low down in a tree, by willow lane: so Ng thrush singing and picking up worms. Short repeated phrases. Smaller than mistle thrush.
