Approx 2,500 pink-footed geese in and around the ex-maize fields at Aldcliffe today.
Despite a prolonged search, I couldn’t locate the tundra bean goose that was present nearby yesterday. 4 adult Russian white-fronted geese were among the throng along with a couple of hundred greylags.
Around 800 geese were fairly distant (as viewed from the cycle track) and would have been better viewed from Dawson’s Bank.
Apparently the bean goose was seen later – it was likely hiding in plain sight all along…
