Easily the birding event of 2024 in the LDBWS area. Here’s a summary of all the Yellow-browed Warbler records so far. Its highly likely that almost all of these records refer to different individuals.
1. One trapped and ringed at Middleton Nature Reserve on 25/9 (per Pete Marsh).
2. One found dead following collision with a window, Milking Stile Lane, Lancaster on 27/9 (Jon Carter).
3. One seen at Middleton Nature Reserve on 28/9 (Richard du Feu) – ringed, so presumably same as no. 1.
4. One seen at Smithy Lane, Heysham on 4/10 (Shaun Coyle).
5. One seen at Middleton Nature Reserve on 4/10 (Pete Marsh, Jean Roberts).
6. One seen at Potts Corner on 4/10 (Stuart Piner).7. One seen between Glasson Dock car park and Glasson Church on 5/10 – 7/10 (Fylde Bird Club).
8. One seen by road to Waste Water Treatment Works, Overton on 5/10 (Shaun Coyle).9. One seen by ‘Tank Farm’ fence, Heysham Nature Reserve on 6/10 (Shaun Coyle).
10-11. Two seen at Fluke Hall on 6/10 (Fylde Bird Club).
12-13. Two seen at Dipping Pond, Heysham Nature Reserve on 6/10 (Shaun Coyle, Pete Crooks, Alan Physick).
14. One seen at Occupation Road, Warton Crag on 6/10 (Simon Williams).15. One seen at Heysham Head on 7/10 (Shaun Coyle).
16. One seen by the anemometer, Heysham Nature Park on 7/10 (Shaun Coyle).
17. One at ‘Tank Farm’, Heysham Nature Reserve on 7/10 (Jean Roberts).
18. One at Middleton Nature Reserve on 7/10 (Shaun Coyle).
19. One at Carr Lane, Middleton on 7/10 (Shaun Coyle).
20. One seen at Dipping Pond, Heysham Nature Reserve on 7/10 (Kevin Eaves) – same as either no. 12 or 13?
21. One trapped and ringed below the Observation Tower, Heysham Nature Reserve on 7/10 (Jean Roberts) – same as nos. 9 and 17?
22. One heard calling from ‘Fire Pond’, Heysham Nature Reserve on 7/10 (Jean Roberts) – different to no. 21.
23. One seen by Skytower, Leighton Moss on 7/10 (Ann Stupple).
24. One seen at Cockersand Abbey Farm on 7/10 (per Pete Marsh).25. One seen at Lancaster Canal, Burton-in-Kendal on 8/10 (Phil Byle).
26. One seen by Lune Estuary cycle-track, south of Ashton Hall on 8/10 (Shaun Coyle).
27-29. Three seen in different areas at Middleton Nature Reserve on 8/10 (Malcolm Downham).
30. One seen by Lune Estuary cycle-track 200 m north of Conder Green car park on 8/10 (Shaun Coyle).
31. One seen at Jenny Brown’s Point on 8/10-9/10 (Stuart Piner).
32. One seen between Second Terrace and Hall, Sunderland Point on 8/10 (Shaun Coyle).Doubtless more will be found in the coming days. Tsweet!

1 working through gardens in Shore Road area of Silverdale, even stopped briefly in the hotel beer garden.Three more Yellow-browed Warblers to add to the original list:
33. One seen at Shore Road, Silverdale on 12/10 (John Webb)
34. One seen at Pilling Lane Ends on 13/10 (per Fylde Bird Club).
