Little owl on wall parallel to road immediately north of Moor Cock

0900 Bridge of Greet Woods: redstart pair, 1 buzzard, c6. siskin, redpoll, 2 spotted flycatcher, goldcrest singing, coal tit – pair, begging & feeding one another, robin, mistle thrush. Family of grey wagtails incl at least 2 juvs in the Hodder, occasionally perching on edge of wood.

Bloe Greet & Croasdale 1000 – 1700 Male Golden Plover alarm-calling from ground, at least 4 families of stonechat Bloe Greet / Croasdale, all with fledged young. 4 singing willow warblers. Buzzard, swift, and no end of Larus gulls passing SE. Despite five hours’ searching, sadly no whinchat (1 pair last year) nor ring ouzel (second year of not finding them for me).

And as if all that wasn’t enough, cranberries in flower, great views of an adder and, of all things, an otter in Croasdale Beck!
