Maybe a forlorn hope of a late (very) Leach’s tempted 4 of us onto the Jetty around high tide. No surprises:
Eider 100+
RBM
G Crested Grebe
Mobile flocks of Oystercatchers and Turnstone either side of the tide
Small numbers of Curlew, very active either side of the Jetty
20 + Redshank on usual N side
Of interest a new species of mammal; the Maritime Rat! Considerable numbers of very big, gingery rats foraging in the open on seaweed right by the sea, at times almost in the sea and certainly getting wet. Interesting behaviour and I wonder if they’ve had an affect on roosting Turnstones which regularly used the same area by the ramp near the end?
