A female-type Merlin and male Sparrowhawk this morning.

A dog walker informed me of a dead Buzzard next to a swan carcass – I think on the edge of the saltmarsh, beneath the embankment that overlooks the maize field and opposite Snatchem’s. If any member is walking around there it would be worth taking a plastic bag to put the buzzard in and to take it for an autopsy.

Discussion with another dog walker revealed that he’s previously found dead Otters, Curlews and Geese on the saltmarsh. Couple that with the failure of the local Peregrines to breed successfully this year and it seems like a worrying trend. Anyone suspecting a wildlife crime must report it to the police and take photos or video if possible.
