      Most of the day spent on the causeway then a coordinated bittern listen at dusk.

      Bittern 4 booming
      Marsh harrier 7+ in the air at once with plenty of skydancing and some nest building
      Buzzard 13 around the valley
      Red kite 1 at 13:15 moved on by a harrier
      Osprey 1 over lilians at 13.47
      Pink-footed goose 45N
      Goldeneye 26
      Pochard 9
      Sand martin 680 over causeway pool about 7pm but a colleague watching South of the causeway had 1000+ closer to dusk
      Swallow 1
      Meadow pipit 30 N
      Linnet 2 N
      Bearded tit 3
      Blackcap 1 singing by start of causeway
      Chiffchaff 6m
      Cetti’s warbler 9 singing males today but I think there is probably 11
      Green woodpecker singing from golf course
      Little egret 26 into roost
      Great white egret 3 into roost, also 2 grey heron
      Common scoter flock heard flying up the valley as I left at 20:40

        We did blue gate end early-ish, then up to Centre and Skytower, back to Causeway and Lower path, back to Centre for lunch.

        Can add to above:
        11 chiffchaffs – most singing but 2 not
        1 nuthatch heard, 2 treecreepers seen.
        Very good view of a Cetti’s singing on the boardwalk.
        Two small flocks of sand martins seen very high when looking at buzzards – each flock had 1 house martin with it.
        Great black-backed gulls nesting on Island again, another individual checking them out.
        1 sparrowhawk and 1 kestrel also seen
        1 brimstone butterfly

          Also Barn Owl from the sky tower at 2000 last night, plus riding Woodcock at the Top end of the reserve
