Finally nailed the cryptic “squeaky hinge” I’ve been hearing in and around my garden ( Scotforth) as a Bullfinch using Merlin to record and analyse its call. I’ve had Bullfinches visit my garden feeders occasionally in past years, but I don’t recall having one as a regular part of the Spring soundscape before.

There is currently one calling at Cinder Lane allotment, which is just off Ashford Rd. Perhaps not too far away from you?
