Went to Leighton Moss late afternoon and then out to the road towards Brow Foot in the hope of seeing woodcock – none sighted. One tawny own calling from woods at Lower end of LM. Two great egrets flew in – one from Crag Foot direction, later one from north over Brow Foot.
Surprised to see a small bat flitting around. I have no idea what species it was, just that it was one of the smaller ones. (Temperature 10 degrees according to the car thermometer).
